EVO Visian ICL

The EVO Visian ICL is an excellent vision correction option for those who want to reduce their dependence on contact lenses and glasses. At Omaha Eye & Laser Institute, we are proud to offer this new and advanced ICL to those who desire greater visual freedom.

What is an ICL?

An ICL is an implantable collamer lens. The material of the ICL consists of a biocompatible collagen copolymer to prevent any adverse reactions inside the eye. It also contains a UV filter. The implantable contact lens procedure is a type of refractive surgery where your eye surgeon places a lens inside your eye to help correct your refractive error. The ICL is an alternative procedure to IntraLASIK, PRK, and Refractive Lens Exchange. Candidates for the ICL procedure usually range from nineteen to forty-five years old, with moderate to nearsightedness. The ICL can achieve stable, dependable results and outstanding quality of vision. Although it is designed to remain within the eye without needing maintenance, an ICL can be removed and replaced if you happen to undergo refractive changes over time. Because the ICL site is behind the eye’s iris, it is not visible to either patient or observer without clinical examination.

What is the EVO Visian ICL?

The EVO Visian ICL is a type of ICL that offers unique benefits. The EVO Visian ICL is an excellent option for refractive surgery for nearsighted patients with limited amounts of astigmatism. Regarding refractive procedures, the ICL is preferred by eye doctors for those with thinner or weaker corneas or patients with extremely dry eyes. This EVO Visian ICL has an extremely high success rate and has also garnered a high satisfaction rate. One of the great benefits of the EVO Visian ICL is the lack of structural changes to your eye during this procedure. With an ICL, your eye doctor simply changes your vision without changing your eye.

What Happens During the EVO Visian ICL Procedure?

First, your eye surgeon will numb your eyes using anesthetic drops. Next, they will create an incision in the cornea, the clear dome at the front of your eye. Through this opening, your eye surgeon will then insert the ICL into your eye. The ICL is placed behind the iris, the colored part of your eye, and in front of your eye’s natural lens. Once your eye surgeon places the EVO Visian ICL in the correct location, they will begin to position it. Once completed, the opening in the cornea will be left alone to heal naturally. Many people notice improved vision right away after the procedure. However, it may take a few days to weeks for your eyes to adjust and for you to see the full potential of your new vision.

Do You Have to Qualify as a Candidate for the EVO Visian ICL?

In order to schedule the EVO Visian ICL procedure, you must first qualify as a candidate for the procedure. To determine whether or not you may be a candidate for the EVO Visian ICL, visit your eye doctors at Omaha Eye & Laser Institute for an evaluation. Although your eye doctor is the only one who can tell you whether or not you may be a candidate for this ICL, some factors may make you more likely to qualify. The EVO Visian ICL can only correct vision in people who are nearsighted or have nearsightedness with astigmatism. This means that if you have any other type of refractive error, like farsightedness or presbyopia, for example, you will not qualify as a candidate. In this case, your eye doctor may recommend other methods of permanent vision correction that might be able to reduce your dependency on contact lenses and glasses. Besides being nearsighted, your eye doctor will likely want to ensure that you have a stable prescription before scheduling you for the EVO Visian ICL procedure. This requirement is to give the procedure the best chance of being exceptionally successful.

How Do the Eye Doctors at Omaha Eye & Laser Institute Determine Candidacy?

During your evaluation, your eye doctor will thoroughly examine your eyes. They may also take additional scans and images of your eyes to get a better idea of the health of your eyes and your specific vision needs. Once they have gathered all the necessary information, your eye doctor can determine whether you are a good candidate for the EVO Visian ICL. If you are, they will answer any questions you may have regarding the procedure and give you information about how to best prepare for the procedure. Then, you will be able to schedule the procedure.

What Makes the EVO Visian ICL Unique?

The EVO Visian ICL offers unique benefits compared to other ICLs and permanent vision correction procedures. For example, the EVO Visian ICL provides a quick procedure, quick recovery, excellent visual outcomes, and improved night vision. However, possibly the most significant benefit of the EVO Visian ICL is that this lens eliminates the need for a laser peripheral iridotomy prior to the ICL procedure, unlike other types of ICLs. A laser peripheral iridotomy is a procedure where your eye doctor uses a special laser to create a tiny hole in your iris. Procedures utilizing other types of ICLs require a laser peripheral iridotomy, or LPI, in an effort to prevent a possible rise in eye pressure after the procedure. The new and advanced technology allows you to forgo this additional procedure and experience the life-changing results of the EVO Visian ICL procedure sooner.

Tips for a Successful Recovery from the EVO Visian ICL Procedure

It is very important to follow the recovery instructions provided by your eye doctor to ensure a successful recovery and vision outcome. Here are some tips to follow to ensure that you recover fully and to reduce your chances of having complications after the surgery:
