Dr. Tania Padilla Conde is a board-certified cataract, cornea, and refractive surgeon. As a South Dakota native, she received her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology with honors from the University of South Dakota, and her medical degree with honors from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine.
Dr. Conde completed her medical internship and ophthalmology residency training at the University of Kentucky where she was elected by the faculty as Chief Resident and received several awards, including the Wirtschafter Excellence in Teaching Award. She is the recipient of the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship, one of the most prestigious honors for trainees pursuing careers in ophthalmic care. She completed advanced fellowship training in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center in Ann Arbor, MI.
Her area of expertise spans the full spectrum of the anterior segment of the eye including: traditional and laser-assisted refractive cataract surgery with specialty lenses (toric, multifocal, and Light adjustable lens implants), LASIK, PRK, partial thickness corneal transplantation, endothelial keratoplasty, pterygium surgery, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. She also performs laser treatments including YAG capsulotomy, laser peripheral iridotomy and selective laser trabeculoplasty.
She has a passion for eliminating avoidable blindness in low resource communities around the world and has participated in numerous medical service trips to Guatemala, Honduras, Eswatini, and South Africa. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, daughter and dog Whiskey.
